Finnish born and Swedish trained hair stylist, Maarit Niemela, has been obsessive about hair ever since as an '80s teen she experimented with perms (ít was so bad,' she recalls) in trying to emulate her then screen idol, Kim Basinger.
Now Maarit works her artistry on today's screen gods and goddesses including: Gwyneth Paltrow, Tilda Swinton, Jude Law, Thandie Newton, Courtney Love and Sophie Dahl. The key to her success with stars is: "Because I'm Finnish I am quite quiet. I research my subject and most importantly I listen to what they like. It's all about making them look good."
Malcolm Edwards was Maarit's mentor when stepping into the archly creative hairdressing world; working with the most coveted catwalk names and on big hitter Ad campaigns like Miu Miu, Prada and Burberry.
